Mini-Grant Funding Opportunities
The AGRC Mini-Grant program is a campus-level small grants program ($500-$2,000) designed to stimulate interest in geriatrics among faculty, fellows, medical students, and pharmacy students. This is a small grants program whose purpose is to encourage the development of educational experiences in aging among both students and faculty in Medicine and Pharmacy.
Awards are used to provide supplies for the development and implementation of educational projects in aging as well as to support travel to conferences on aging that are integral to project completion. Mini-Grants can also be used to support medical students' Independent Study Projects (ISPs) if they are focused in aging.
Sometimes pilot projects that are supported by this seed money yield outcomes sufficient to make participants eligible to compete for additional funding from larger programs.
RFPs are generally sent out in October of each year, with applications due in mid to late November. Click here for a pdf version of the 10-11 RFP. Funds are awarded in late January, to be expended within 1 year.
Occasionally, additional funds become available at other times of the year. To find out if funds may be available at other times, contact Casey Gerdes at (858) 822-2437 or cgerdes@ucsd.edu.
