Entrance Health Requirements

Each new student (or student re-entering after an absence of two or more consecutive quarters) is required by the School of Medicine to submit to the Student Health Service a completed Health History Form together with the results of a recent complete physical examination performed by the student's personal physician. A tuberculosis skin test is required either at the time of enrollment or within six months prior to enrollment. (If entering students know from past experience that they have a positive tuberculin skin test, the report of a recent chest X-ray should be submitted.) Students must also provide evidence of immunity from measles and rubella; at least three doses of any vaccine containing tetanus toxoid with the last dose received within the past ten years are required. Tuberculosis skin tests as well as tetanus shots and immunizations for measles and rubella may be obtained at the Student Health Service. Appropriate forms and detailed information about health requirements are sent to new students well in advance of the registration date. They may also be obtained at any time from the Student Health Service.
