In collaboration with the Mid-City, San Diego Police Department Multi-Cultural Relations Office, the UCSD School of Medicine CHUM/SEPA and Postbaccalaureate Programs have organized a pilot health and science educational project involving 12 high school youth drawn from several underserved communities. The 12 students, assisted by 4 postbaccalaureate mentors, receive instruction in calculator and computer-based laboratory skills and a health science curriculum over 5 four-hour Saturday sessions. This instruction will culminate in a visit to a cancer research laboratory and presentation by Dr. Boris Minev, Cancer Immunologist at the Moores Cancer Center.
