Student-Faculty Mock Interviews
Student-faculty mock interviews are professionally videotaped by the UCSD School of Medicine Media Production Group. We recruit UCSD medical school faculty and community physicians to to conduct the interviews. The format for interviews consists of informal and unstructured questions that focus on students' demographic and educational backgrounds, motivation for medicine, employment history, clinical volunteerism, and community outreach service.
Students are asked pertinent questions about minority health issues and queried on their visions for their future work in medicine. The mock interviews are thirty minutes in duration, with the last five minutes being reserved for on-camera feedback. At a later date, students receive constructive feedback from the Program Director and are provided a copy of their interview DVD for review and practice.
We invite you to review excerpts of the mock interviews of four successful students who were admitted to the 2007 entering class of California medical schools.
