Necrotizing Fasciitis: Severe infection which travels in the suprafacial plane. In this instance, the infection
started in the perirectal region and spread anterially through the parineum and up over the right inguinal
area. The picture on the left demonstrates marked inflammation. The picture on the right was taken several
days later and several fistulae are now apparent in the skin. This infection is normally treated with aggresive
surgical debridment. However, in this case, advanced cancer precluded the use of any operative approach.
