Necrotizing Fasciitis: Note the extensive edema, erythema, bullae formation,
and necrosis in this patient's thigh. At the time of presentation, this diabetic
patient was quite systemically ill (hypotensive with multi system organ failure)
with severe pain at the site of infection. The picture on the right demonstrates
leg after extensive debridment down to and below the level of the fascia.
