Rankings for the School of Medicine
In its December 13, 2007 “America’s Best Graduate Schools” edition, U.S. News & World Report ranked the UCSD School of Medicine as 14th in the nation among top medical schools for research. In that issue, UCSD’s AIDS program ranked 6th in the nation, the drug and alcohol abuse program was 10th, and internal medicine 20th.

UCSD School of Medicine is affiliated with many world-famous research institutions: The Burnham Institute, the Salk Institute for Biological Studies, the UCSD Medical Center, the Veterans Administration Medical Center, UCSD Scripps Institution of Oceanography, the San Diego Supercomputer Center, The Scripps Clinic and Research Foundation, the Whittier Institute, Children’s Hospital and Health Center, Naval Regional Medical Center (Balboa Naval Hospital), St. Vincent DePaul Village for the Homeless, and Thornton Hospital.Community OutreachUCSD Student-Run Free Clinic Project, in partnership with the community, provides accessible, quality healthcare for the underserved in a respectful environment in which students, health professionals, patients, and community members learn from one another. Committed to providing quality medical, dental, and social services free of charge to homeless and indigent people in San Diego, three Free Clinics operate on a weekly basis.
