UCSD Physicians Dominate the 2009 Top Doctors List

Following the outstanding rankings in U.S. News & World Report, UC San Diego physicians continue to dominate the top doctors list in San Diego Magazine’s 2009 “Physicians of Exceptional Excellence.” The list will appear in the October issue.

Eighty of our physicians in 30 specialties were rated the best in the region by their peers, up from 66 physicians named last year, and more than any other health care system or medical group in San Diego County.

In addition, five of our physicians rated as the best in the region are in the departments of Psychiatry and Urology, which were recently ranked as among the nation’s best in those specialties. Also, five other physicians were named as best doctors in more than one specialty (denoted by * in the list below).

It is an honor that our peers give us high marks since selections for the 2009 list were made from board-certified practitioners in San Diego County. To receive a vote, a San Diego County Medical Society member is asked whom they would refer their patients and family members to, and the member is allowed to vote across specialties.

The America's Best Graduate Schools, 2010 Edition released today by U.S. News & World Report ranked the UC San Diego School of Medicine 15th out of the nation’s 120 research-intensive medical school programs, while its ranking in primary care increased by nine points to 26th from 35th last year in the new graduate program rankings.
