CME Home Study Activities (CD, DVD, Printed Monographs, Web-Based Activities)
Is there new information in your specialty area that other physicians or health care providers need to know to improve patient care? Are you interested in developing a home study activity that can be accessed by learners at a convenient time and location for them? Do you wish to contribute your knowledge and expertise to improve patient care nationwide?
CME Home Study Activities (Enduring Materials)
A home study activity/enduring material is a non-live CME activity that “endures” over time. Self-study CME materials provide physicians with the opportunity to access topics of interest at a convenient time and location. Typical formats for home study activities include printed monographs, DVD’s, CD ROMs, and web based activities.
Educational Strategies
UCSD CME has a commitment to provide innovative education that impacts physicians’ knowledge and behavior, and ultimately results in improved patient care. Needs assessment and learning objectives are defined for each home study program. Educational formats are chosen that utilize adult education principles that enhance physicians’ ability to learn. These formats may include individualized learning plans, pre and post-tests, interactive case studies, and follow-up reminders that reinforce new knowledge or the practice of new clinical skills.
Funding for Home Study Activities
UCSD CME acknowledges the role that pharmaceutical and medical device companies play in financially supporting continuing medical education activities. We have developed a grant proposal process that highlights the strength of our needs assessments, objectives, and outcomes methods. Our skilled staff will work in partnership with UCSD faculty to identify potential grantors in your specialty area. We will manage all aspects of the grant proposal process to ensure appropriate compensation and funding for your CME homestudy activities.
UCSD CME Services
The UCSD CME staff have the expertise to manage the details of every element required to deliver a successful continuing medical education activity. We will provide you with overall project management that includes needs assessment, educational program development, graphic and website design, marketing, accreditation, commercial support solicitation, and production and delivery of program materials. We developed an innovative, web-based registration, testing, evaluation, and CME certification system that allows participants to take a test, evaluate the program, and print their CME certificate in one easy step.
