Event Planning & Project Management

The UCSD CME office plans, develops, implements and manages up to 30 national and international continuing medical education programs annually. Expert meeting planners have 55 combined years of event planning experience. They are skilled at organizing traditional CME activities as well as highly technical medical training labs and hands-on workshops. The UCSD CME office has organized conferences for up to 1500 participants in locations including Europe and Australia.

 

An event planner will be assigned to your conference to provide overall project management that includes:


Program Planning
Assist with the development of Needs Assessment, Learning Objectives, Innovative Formats, Program Evaluation and Outcomes.

Marketing, Brochure Preparation and Web Design
Identify target audience, design promotional pieces and develop interactive websites.

Accreditation
Secure AMA Category 1 and other health care credits for activity attendees.

Scientific Abstracts
Develop and manage online scientific abstract submissions including collection, review, selection, correspondence and printing of an abstract book.

Commercial Support
Develop strategies for solicitation of educational grants from pharmaceutical/medical supply companies.

Registration Services
Provide web-based registration and phone support.

Meeting Site Selection
Determine appropriate venues and negotiate favorable contracts for accommodations, meeting rooms, and meal functions.

Speaker Correspondence
Manage all logistical arrangements with speakers including travel, honoraria, audiovisual aids and syllabus materials.

On-Site Supervision of Conference
Provide on-site staffing to monitor registration, exhibits, room set-ups, audiovisual aids and catered functions.

Social Functions
Organize themed receptions and speaker’s dinners.

Audience Response System
Provide expertise in the development of educational interventions (pre & post tests, case-based discussions) using an automated audience response system.

CME Home Study Programs (Enduring Materials)Home study programs are CME materials that endure over time. These programs are typically delivered via monograph, DVD, CD-ROM and the Internet. The UCSD CME office has extensive experience in the development and production of these educational materials.
