What's Happening?
| Student-Run Audio Podcasting With a bit of technical support from EdCom, MSIs and MSIIs will be listening to audio podcasts of many lectures again this year. Student volunteers use an audio recording console in the auditorium to start/stop a session then upload to a secure media server for sharing with their classmates. A new "pod squad" from the Class of 2012 will be recruited this fall.
|
| Laptop Computers required for Class of 2012 All incoming medical students will need a wireless laptop with a printer and internet access. See the Medical Student Computer Requirements for details. This revised requirement will enable many new initiatives starting with hands-on computer training at Orientation and web-based subject exams. |
| UCSD's ePortfolios soon in all Clinical Clerkships The ePortfolio is a web-based system for logging clinical experiences. Developed by EdCom and the Clerkship faculty, discipline-specific versions of the ePortolio have been successfully launched in 6 clerkships. The 7th and final version for the Surgery Clerkship should be ready by mid-fall quarter.
|
| Curriculum Resource Database -- COMING SOON! UCSD will soon be launching the School of Medicine's Curriculum Resourse database. "CURE" will serve as a curriculum catalog and permit teaching faculty, educational administrators, and students to easily search and determine exactly where content is delivered. This database will constitute a powerful learning tool and facilitate improved instruction.
