Development and Programming
The Office of Educational Computing is responsible for developing technology-based resources for the Division of Medical Education.
EdCom supports the creation of teaching, learning, and administrative resources by providing expertise on instructional design, programming, multimedia, and database development.
In addition, EdCom maintains a variety of interactive web-based applications (electronic mail, discussion forums, calendars, quiz makers, etc.) that can readily be incorporated into instructional or administrative applications for added value.
We work directly with faculty, staff, and students to create solutions that complement their teaching or operational styles and achieve their pedagogical or organizational goals.
EdCom's develoment and programming activities is subdivided into the following functional units:
- Web Programming & eSystems - develops and maintain online resources for MedEd administrative offices and programs, SOM students, and core courses.
- Curricular Resources - works closely with core course faculty and administrators to ensure that all IT-based resources are developed, updated, and delivered as needed for each curricular segment.
- Special Projects - handles grant-funded endeavors, such as the DARPA-funded Anatomic VisualizeR system and the NIH-funded National Tuberculosis Curriculum Consortium.
