Web Portal - ForumMail

The MedEd Student Web Portal includes >50 discussion forums on a wide variety of topics. Users can easily browse through the forums using the pull-down menus at the top of the forum page.

Users may also choose to subscribe to one or more individual topics or forums, and receive an email whenever a new  message is posted to their favorite discussion. Subscription / unsubscription is very dynamic by just clicking on the subscription / unsubscription image next to the topic of interest.  Users may also turn on / off email notificatoin at any time they choose to decrease email messages while on vacation.

The process to subscribe / unsubscribe is very easy; it can be done by one of two methods.

Method One - subscribe to a topic or entire forum

  1. Login to the Student Web Portal Opens in new window and go to the desired forum.
  2. To subscribe to a single topic in that forum, click the mail icon with the green plus sign ForumMail subscribe icon on the right-hand side of the forum index window in the row of the desired topic. To subscribe to additional topics, click the respective mail icon in the topic row.
  3. To unsubscribe to a single topic, click the mail icon with the red minus sign ForumMail unsubscribe in the row of the desired topic.
  4. If you would like to subscribe to all topics in that forum, simply click the [check] All Check all in the header of that column.
  5. To unsubscribe to all topics in the forum, click the Un [check] Uncheck all in the header of that column.


Method Two - subscribe to multiple forums at one time (all topics for each forum)

  1. Login to the Student Web Portal Opens in new window.
  2. Click on the ForumMail Opens in new window link in the upper right corner of the forum index window.
  3. The "ForumMail Settings" window will appear showing all the forums with checkboxes next to them.
  4. Click the checkbox next to any forum(s) for which you would like to receive email messages of the postings. Remove the check next to any forum(s) or topic(s) for which you would no longer like to receive email messages.
  5. Click the Submit ForumMail Settings button when you have completed making your selections.

Note: Method Two only allows subscriptions to ALL topics in the desired forums.


Are you going on vacation?  If you would like to suspend your ForumMail subscriptions while away, follow the steps below:


Vacation Setting - Suspend ForumMail

  1. Login to the Student Web Portal Opens in new window.
  2. Click on the ForumMail Opens in new window link in the upper right corner of the forum index window.
  3. The "ForumMail Settings" window will appear showing all the forums with checkboxes next to them.
  4. On the right-hand side of the window, there is the Vacation setting with an on / off option.
  5. Click the "on" option if you are going on vacation or "off" if you are coming off vacation.
    - Option "On", will suspend ForumMail (turn off email notification) and retain all your subscriptions.
    - Option "Off", will reactivate ForumMail (turn on email notification) for all your previously subscribed topic(s) and forum(s).
