Connecting to the MedEd Student Exchange Via Mobile Devices
MedEd's Student Exchange server can be access using a variety of mobile devices, including Windows Mobile, Palm, and Mac mobile devices. Mobile devices allow users to remotely access e-mail, calendar information, and contacts. More details about each of the options is included below.
Windows Mobile (Pocket PC)
Using ActiveSync, Windows Mobile devices allow direct download of e-mail and calendar from the Exchange server via cellular data networks. ActiveSync synchronizes directly with the Exchange server. Please note that in order to utilize Exchange ActiveSync, there may be an extra fee for cellular "data services" charged by the cellular service provider on a monthly basis.
Palm OS
Smart phones, such as the Treo 755P, running the Palm OS, can be configured to access email and calendar hosted on the MedEd Student Exchange server via cellular data networks. You will need to have VersaMail installed or pre-installed on your device in order to connect to the MedEd Student Exchange server. Please note the use of VersaMail, there may be an extra fee for cellular "data services" charged by the cellular service provider on a monthly basis.
iPhone
The iPhone has the capability to utilize a majority of the functionalities the MedEd Student Exchange server provides, including over-the-air push and sync of Exchange email, contacts, and calendars.
Blackberry
At this time we are not supporting the Blackberry Enterprise service for the MedEd Student Exchange server. You can still configure your MedEd Student Exchange account using the IMAP protocol. Please stop by the EdCom Office for assistance with this option.
