MedEd WebMail -  An Overview

MedEd WebMail is a free service offered to SOM students, staff, and teaching faculty. It uses a web interface that allows users to access their email whenever and wherever they have internet access.

MedEd WebMail features include:

  • Address book  -  with import/export capability to other email programs

  • Pop-up blocker  -  can be enabled/disabled quickly

  • Search   -  works for one mailbox folder or all

  • Spell checker  -  ability to store unique words (medical terms) in your personal dictionary

MedEd WebMail retains your messages on the email server until:

  • Removed by the user

  • Automatically purged after 60 days (a process that keeps the email server operating at peak efficiency and speed)

  • Moved by the user to another folder in WebMail (highly recommended to avoid loss of important messages)

If you use an email client (i.e. Eudora, Outlook, etc.) in combination with WebMail, be aware that only those messages that remain on the email server (in your WebMail inbox) are accessible to those other email client programs.
