Using the UCSD Web proxy server

After configuring your Web browser using the instructions above, close and quit out of it. When you relaunch your Web browser, you have normal access to webpages.

The first time you attempt to access a UCSD-restricted Web site during your Web browsing session, you must enter your Name and Password:

  • In the Name field, enter your username.
    • Do not add the @ucsd.edu segment of your e-mail address
    • Enter up to the first eight characters if your username is long
  • In the Password field, enter your password.
  • Click the OK button.
  • You may now access all available UCSD- restricted Web sites.

Click on this Test Link to ensure your browser is setup correctly. It will bring up a 1957 article in "Science" by Roger Revelle on international cooperation in marine sciences.
