Committees: Resident Physician Council 2006-2007

The Resident Physician Council is for trainees in first board training programs. It is an advisory council to the Medical Director and to the Associate Dean, GME. The Council is also advisory to the Medical Staff Executive Committee by having two of the Council's members represent housetaff on the MSEC (per the UCSD Medical Center Medical Staff Bylaws). The Council consists of two residents from each first board training program. One of the two is to be a junior house officer, either a PGY1 or 2 trainee, and the second resident is to be one of the training program's Chief Residents. For programs that begin after one or two years of prior training, please consider someone in your first or second year for the junior position.

The Council Meets monthly and focuses on patient care issues. The agenda will be created by the housestaff and the RPC will be chaired by a house officer selected by the membership of the Council. This will be their forum to bring their issues forward that are on topics of patient care and clinical matters at the Medical Center and Clinics. The Council is a mechanism for the housestaff to have a voice in issues surrounding quality patient care at UCSD.
