American Geriatric Society

To promote student interest in the knowledge and participation of care for the elderly.

American Medical Student Association (AMSA)

Aim to improve health care and healthcare delivery to all people; promote active improvement in medical education; involve its members in the social, moral and ethical obligations of the profession of medicine; assist in the improvement and understanding of world health problems; contribute to the welfare of medical students, premedical students, interns, residents and post MD/DO trainees; and advance the profession of medicine.

American Medical Women's Association

The goal of the UC San Diego chapter is to advance females in medical profession and encourage mentorship.


Asian Pacific American Medical Student Association (APAMSA)

We are interested in promoting the health and well-being of the Asian community as well as helping healthcare workers understand how to care for the Asian patient in a culturally sensitive manner. APAMSA also provides an important forum for APA medical students to share experiences and information with each other.

Baking Interest Group

To streamline communication between all the bakers in UCSD SOM to exchange recipes and organize fundraising bake sales.

Border Health Project

o provide basic health screenings and services in additional to basic supplies for one of the most underserved populations in San Diego County, migrant farm workers.

Christian Medical Fellowship (CMF)

CMF exists to provide fellowship among the body of believers on campus and an environment of support, encouragement, Bible Study and prayer as we learn to integrate our personal faith with professional practice.

 Dermatology Interest Group

Doctors Ought to Care (D.O.C.) (elective course based group)

DOC is a community-oriented elective program designed to get UCSD SOM students out and about providing vital education to local elementary, middle and high school students.

Emergency Medicine Student Interest Group

To promote the field of EM and build interest amongst students

Family Medicine Interest Group

To get students interested in family medicine and expose them to the possible sub-specialties

Future of Medicine

To educate and inspire physicians-in-training about upcoming medical innovations in technology and public health.

Global Health Interest Group

To raise awareness about issues related to global health and opportunities to work abroad.

Golf Interest Group

This group seeks to connect players of all skill levels to enjoy the sport of golf. Our group events involve trips to the driving range and coordinating rounds of golf.

Health Frontiers in Tijuana (HFIT)

To promote free healthcare to the underserved population in Tijuana, Mexico and to promote partnerships between health care professionals in the US and Mexico.

Health and Human Rights Interest Group

To develop awareness of human rights issues and the intersection between health and human rights among medical students

Health and Wellness Club

To promote health and wellness among the medial school body.

Holistic & Integrative Medicine (HI-Med)

Internal Medicine Interest Group

To promote interest in the field of Internal Medicine.

LGBT Medical Students and Allies

The LGBT Medical Students and Allies Interest Group provides opportunities for students to network, socialize, and spread understanding of health issues relevant to the LGBT population, as well as provide support for LGBT members of the health care workforce.

Latino Medical Student Association (LMSA)

To unify Latino medical students into one organization; to provide a voice for underrepresented medical students; to actively promote recruitment and retention of Latino students at all levels; to educate medical students on Latin health issues; To advocate for the rights of Latinos in health care; to provide leadership opportunities for those looking to get involved in the Latino community and to promote volunteerism in the Latino community.

Maimonides Society

To encourage Jewish community and mentorship within the CUSD SOM

Medical and Conversational Spanish

To practice conversational Spanish in an informal setting in pursuit of maintaining language skills and being better prepared to communicate with various members of the greater San Diego community

Medical Students for Choice (MS4C)

We are guided by the understanding that “without providers, there is no choice.” MSFC is committed to ensuring that medical students and residents receive the education they need to provide women with comprehensive reproductive healthcare.  We hope to expand training opportunities, curriculum reform, and increased awareness of reproductive rights among policymakers.

Medical Technology Interest Group

To discuss modern and upcoming medical technologies and their impact on healthcare.

Muslim Medical Students Association

To foster a critical and informed understanding of issues relat4ed to Islam and Muslims in the medical and healthcare community, and to make a positive impact in the lives of those in the wider community at UCSD and in San Diego through outreach and service.

Neurosurgery Interest Group

To increase the knowledge and exposure of the great field of Neurosurgery as well as the application process and lifestyle in order to ultimately close the gap between medical student and Neurosurgery residents/faculty.

Running & Triathlon Interest Group

Forum for running and triathlon enthusiasts to meet and train with others.  The goal of the group is to promote physical activity, social interaction, and a mental release from the demands of medical school.  All experience levels are encouraged to participate.

Science Based Medicine

To promote science based medicine to improve patient care, medical education and medical research.

SOM Mentorship Program

To mentor underserved pre-medical students at UC San Diego.

To connect UCSD SOM student parents for the purpose of mutual support for us and our families.

Sports Medicine Interest Group
