Predoctoral Clinical Research Training Program
Welcome
The Predoctoral Clinical Research Training Program (PCRTP) provides a multidisciplinary, broad based, integrated educational and mentored clinical research training experience for predoctoral students in the Health Sciences. The program is available to students enrolled in the UCSD School of Medicine (SOM) and the SKAGGS School of Pharmacy (SSPPS).
PCRTP provides both short-term as well as intensive training experiences in clinical research or research methodologies for predoctoral students. The short term experiences typically last for 10-12 weeks during the summer. First year medical students and first and second year pharmacy students are eligible to apply for support from this program. Applications are typically due in early April, with funding notifications by the last week in April. The intensive training experience includes a more in depth clinical research training experience in conjunction with a comprehensive curriculum covering the methods of clinical research. Completion of this curriculum can lead to a Master's degree in Clinical Research (see http://clre.ucsd.edu).
Medical students interested in obtaining this Master's degree would typically pursue the curriculum for a 12 month period from January through December. Questions about eligibility for the program should be directed to Dr. Carolyn Kelly at ckelly@ucsd.edu.
