"In taking a social history several points are important:
  • It is important to find out if anyone in the house smokes.
  • You should ask about the patients workplace and home in order to look for any other potential causes or exacerbants of his asthma.
  • It is important to ask about pets also. Dander, hair, feces and saliva from any warm blooded animal can cause an allergic reaction."
