CT Scan
Cost: $1160
This is an abdominal CT scan with contrast. The contrast can be seen in the gallbladder. The gallbladder does not appear enlarged and there is no fluid surrounding it. On closer inspection one can visualize small specks within the gallbladder that are likely air bubbles surrounding the gallstones. As you can see, the stones themselves are radiolucent and are not visualized.
Given this pathient's history and physical findings, a CT scan is usually not the first radiographic study ordered to confirm the most likely diagnosis in this case. It is useful however in diagnosing hepatic or extrahepatic masses that may be causing cholestasis.
