Registration/Enrollment
- PAC Code: You will receive your Personal Access
Code either in the mail to your home address or at SDSU to your
mailbox. The PAC is needed to enroll
online for classes.
- Use TritonLink.

- WebReg Tutorial suggested to help you learn the UCSD
system
- *Required: EVERY QUARTER: Resolve enrollment/registration
holds you may have with the registrar’s office and/or graduate
studies. If you will be receiving
an incomplete in a course for any reason (research continuing….) then you
must come to Dr. Zettner to fill out a request to receive an incomplete
form and take it to the Registrar’s office. Please inform Dr. Zettner of any
enrollment/ registration holds.
- WebCT:
equivalent of Blackboard. WE
ARE ALL LEARNING THIS NEW SYSTEM, please be patient with the faculty.
- Students
must self-register for an instructional account at http://sdacs.ucsd.edu/~icc/acsreg.php . This will help you establish an account that will
stay with you throughout your studies here. You will need to know your
PAC to choose a password.
- As
part of the process you will receive an email account on sdcc3 (one of
the instructional servers). You will then be able to get mail to your
login name @ucsd.edu. We recommend you set your mail to deliver to a
preferred mailbox (probably one you already have) at http://acs.ucsd.edu/email/redirect.php.
Otherwise your mail will be
interrupted if you have a lapse in registration.
Identification/Security:
- *Required UCSD student ID: http://www-bfs.ucsd.edu/sbs/Campus_Card.html#hours
- This gives you library, bus/shuttle,
recreation, etc privileges.
- The
office is open for business 8:00 am - 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
- The
Campus Card Unit is located in Student Account and University Billing
Services at 201 University Center, Building 201 (across the street from
the Registrar's Office).

- *Required Photo ID badge (security health badge) for
clinical work: You may not
enter the audiology clinic without it.
Take ID with you.
- The
office location is two blocks east the main
entrance to UCSD
Medical Center
- Hillcrest near the intersection of Front Street and Arbor Drive. Hours are posted: MWF from 8-12 and 1-3:45. Call (619) 543-3762 for an appointment
(recommended). They also come to Thornton
the 4th Tues of the month from 11-2 in the Triton Conference Room.
Online Training
Courses:

- Complete
the online self-guided training, printout
the final page, sign and return to me. You may wish to make a copy for
yourself.
Immunization and
Liability:
- *Required TB/Hep B
immunization verification, bring a copy to me for UCSD record
keeping.
- TB test is required.
- Hep B is recommended. You’ll need it for Year III placements,
you might as well start the process now.
SDSU health center is a good place to get these tests/shots.
- *Required Student Professional Liability Insurance: you
obtain this at SDSU.
Renewal is on a January through
January. You have current insurance, but you must renew it in January. You are
responsible for keeping this up to date.
Parking information:
- Parking: There are a number of options for
parking at or near Perlman/Thornton Hospital. Access the webpage: http://blink.ucsd.edu/Blink/External/Topics/Policy/0,1162,11874,00.html
- FREE
options:
- City bus routes that you can ride for free
with your UCSD pass, see website listed above
- Some
people park for free on Campus Point Drive a
few blocks away from Perlman and walk in. It’s not far and “by gosh, it’s
free!” Be aware that you’ll probably
need to arrive before 7:45am to get a space. One of our audiologists has been doing
this for years. Ask the YIII
students if they have suggestions.
- Yellow
parking spaces are for students...large student lots very close to
Perlman/Thornton.
- Green
parking permits. Green spaces:
Scripps, Hillcrest, and Thornton/Perlman.
You can also pay for parking in green spaces for $6/day. UCSD information booth on Gilman Dr and
the Thornton
lot have a kiosk to purchase a parking tag for a day

SPACE IS LIMITED AND IS FOR PATIENTS AND THEIR VISITORS ONLY
Dress Code:
Professional attire for clinic at all times. You represent yourself as well as the rest of
the AuD program.
No blue
denim (jeans or jacket).
No open toed
shoes.
Shirt and
pants must meet when bending over or raising arms.
All body
art/piercing must be covered or removed.
Tongue rings must be removed.
Short white coat (about 28” long
coat) required for preceptorship, optional for clinic. Men must wear a tie.
(you’ll feel more a part of the team of healthcare workers
when you have your coat on!)

Scrubs available in the surgery prep room for watching surgeries.
P.S. No one will notice or care if you wear the same outfit

- Negotiating
with classmates is not permitted as way to resolve schedule
conflicts. Any conflict with
schedules must be discussed with me so that we can come to a satisfactory
solution.
- Group A
clinic and an elective.
- Look
through the schedule of classes to see what interests you for an
elective. You must have it approved by your advisor before you
register for it.
- Group B otology preceptorships and
clinical assignment. You are assigned to either a Tues or a Thurs morning
Preceptorship. In addition, you are
required to observe as many surgeries as possible. Currently, surgeries are scheduled
Wednesday mornings through about 2pm.
There is a surgery schedule posted on the bulletin board in the clinic. Check list each week. Surgeries you’ll observe include
stapedectomy, tympanoplasty, bone anchored
hearing aid implantation, labyrinthectomy, tumor resections etc.
*Preceptorship Requirements:
1. A
short white lab coat is required for all students during preceptorship. Men must wear a tie.
2. Arrive
before 9:00am. Meeting place: Nurses
station in our clinic.
3. Scrubs
in surgery, available outside the surgery rooms.
4. Prerequisite
Reading:
- Group C: Clinic and research
rotation
- Contact
your research advisor as soon as possible to introduce yourself
and set up a time to discuss your research experience with them. You will work them the equivalent of
one full day each week during your assigned quarter. They may want you to work all one
day/week, or on two separate ½ days depending on their research.
