Simulation at UCSD School of Medicine

The use of simulation technologies in the medical curriculum has dramatically grown and taken on an ever more important role.  To support and expand this trend, the UCSD Division of Medical Education has opened a new Simulation Center.  Temporarily housed in the north end of University Center Building 301, this facility will serve our undergraduate, graduate, and continuing medical education programs until the planned Medical Education Center is realized.

The Simulation Center is currently equipped with a variety of "partial task trainers" and diagnostic /monitoring equipment.  A Laerdal SimMan 3G has been ordered and should arrive in the Fall Quarter 2009. Other simulation technologies are being evaluated for future purchase. The current list of simulation equipment can be found in the "Simulation Equipment" link in the upper left section of the menu.

Finding the Simulation Center:

Room 122: University Center (UC) 301

Building UC 301, the former Registrar's Office, is a one-story yellow-tan building with pine trees. It is located just off Gilman Drive, on the east side of Myers Drive. As you are leaving the School of Medicine and walking towards the Price Center, it is on the right side of Myers Drive.

Scheduling the Simulation Center:

The Center is available for School of Medicine-sponsored classes and workshops, including Undergraduate, Graduate, and Continue Medical Education programs. Use of the Center requires an approved faculty sponsor who will be responsible for the training session and equipment used.
