SIM Division of Medical Education
Simulation Training Center

Scheduling the Simulation Training Center for your Event

Use of the Center requires an approved faculty sponsor who will be responsible for the training session and equipment used. Simulation Training Center reservations should be submitted by UCSD Health Sciences faculty ONLY.  All reservation requests will be reviewed and approved by the Medical Education Administration before scheduling.

Follow the steps below to schedule the Simulation Training Center:

  1. Check the availability of the Simulation Training Center room for your desired date/time by accessing the Health Sciences AV & Room Scheduling External Site / New Window website. Login using your UCSD email account credentials and click the Begin a SOM request link at the bottom of the page.  Select the Medical Education and Telemedicine (MET) building under the facilities pull-down menu and the desired date/times for your event.  Click the Find Space button to view the results.

  2. Complete all required fields on the form. Be sure to list any simulators, task trainers (view the simulation equipment on the Simulation Equipment page or download the Simulation Equipment Form External Site / New Window for reference during your request) or any accesory items such as: gurneys, sheets, gloves, other consumables and also any additional equipment that you will bring to your event in the Event Notes field.  Also indicate any AV Equipment needed for your session before clicking the Submit button.  The request will be forwarded to Medical Education Administration for approval.
     - You will receive a Confirmation message for the room (and accompanying AV equipment) when the Simulation Training Center room (and AV equipment, if included) has been approved and reserved.

  3. If your event is scheduled outside of MET business hours (Monday-Friday 8:00am-4:30pm), you will receive key check-out procedures in your Room Reservation Confirmation message.

Simulation Training Center occupants are responsible for cleaning up from their event - including following the appropriate procedures for cleaning the task trainers, throwing away all trash, wiping up any liquids (simulated blood, etc.), returning any tables/chairs to the rooms/locations where they were obtained and contacting the Simulation Training Center staff if there are any issues that cannot be addressed immediately after the event.

If you experience any difficulties with this process or have any questions, please email simcenter@ucsd.edu with a detailed description of the issue.
