The blueprint for a new medical school curriculum at UCSD was unanimously approved by the Core Curriculum Committee and the Committee on Educational Policy in January, 2009.  Called the Integrated Scientific Curriculum, it grows out of an 18 month effort that has included several large faculty retreats and the focused efforts of over 80 faculty members and students in a number of curriculum working groups.

A subcommittee of the Core Curriculum Committee is directing the search and appointment for leadership positions in the Integrated Scientific Curriculum, and these position descriptions are listed above. If you are interested in applying for one of these positions, please be aware that the job will require a substantial commitment of time and effort above and beyond standard faculty teaching responsibilities. As described in the descriptions, funds will be allocated directly from the Dean’s office to facilitate the efforts needed for both the development and oversight of these new curricular initiatives.

To be considered, please review the descriptions and submit a Curriculum Vitae and cover letter describing your interest and experience relevant to the position by Monday, April 20, 2009 to Sarah Skaggs (sskaggs@ucsd.edu), who is providing administrative support to the subcommittee of CCC that is coordinating this process. If you have questions about the positions, please contact Jess Mandel, Associate Dean for Undergraduate Medical Education (jmandel@ucsd.edu).
