Completing the ISP
The final ISP must be submitted in a material form, such as a report or manuscript, to all the ISP committee members. While there are no restrictions on the final form of the ISP, students must submit some kind of written description even if an alternative medium such as an audiovisual presentation or computer program is utilized. This document should include a description of the project, a rationale for the project, how the project was done, and what was achieved. Final projects are often submitted for publication in medical journals or presented at scientific meetings. Projects may also be submitted to relevant community agencies which have a material interest in the study results.
Students should submit a preliminary draft of the ISP to all committee members, arrange a meeting with the committee to discuss the findings of the study, and solicit input. Students must then submit their final ISP, along with the required forms (see below) to all committee members.
Upon final approval of the ISP, students are responsible for ensuring that the following items are submitted to the ISP Coordinator:
- Copy of the final project (Please submit ISP write-up via email to Andrea Mondragon.)
- ISP Committee Member Evaluation form (PDF
- 32 kb | Word
- 34 kb) from each non-Chair Committee Member - ISP Completion Verification/Chair Evaluation form (PDF
- 35 kb | Word
- 37 kb) from the ISP Chair - Completion of Student Evaluation of ISP experience

- ISP Library Consent (PDF
- 260 kb | Word
- 18 kb) In the past, the UCSD Biomedical Library stored hard copies of all ISPs. Students now have the option to post their ISPs to a School of Medicine ISP-specific page on eScholarship, which provides open access, scholarly publishing services to the University of California. No ISPs will be posted without the appropriate consent.
