Medical Education Development Series (MEDS) | GOAL: To promote the science and art of medicine and the betterment of the public health through improved faculty teaching and training of medical students. OBJECTIVES upon completion of these seminars, participants will be able to:
- Develop effective Multiple-Choice (MC) test items and identify/eliminate flawed MC test items.
- Identify issues of professionalism in students, trainees and colleagues and respond effectively.
- Identify the fundamentals of evaluation and outcome data for medical education research programs using the Logic Model.
- Identify and implement strategies for effective lecturing/teaching.
- Identify the critical elements that define a good lecture.
- Use alternative versions of PubMed (Quertle/HubMed); use PubMed efficiently from a clinical perspective.
- Employ small group facilitation techniques.
- Develop a systematic, research supported method for establishing pass-fail standards.
- Provide appropriate and constructive feedback to students in the clinical setting.
- Develop effective skills for addressing problematic situations involving clinical trainees (medical student and resident physician).
- Use digital technology to facilitate in-class, realtime feedback and assessment.
