Preparation for USMLE Step 1 | USMLE Strategy Session during Fall Quarter:
During Fall quarter, an OESS staff member will discuss effective study strategies for combining USMLE Step 1 review with mastering second-year curricular material. Performing solidly in second-year core courses will typically increase USMLE scores more than sacrificing core course studying to focus specifically on USMLE review. Selected Subject Reviews during Winter and Spring Quarters: As the second-year core course schedule allows, OESS staff members will offer reviews of specific first-year subjects during Winter and Spring Quarters. Whenever possible, the reviews are coordinated with the second-year curriculum; for example, relevant first-year material is reviewed during the corresponding pathology section. This enhances retention of the material and promotes the integration of first- and second-year course material; such integration is seen in many USMLE questions.
Supplemental Materials: OESS staff members provide summaries of high-yield information and USMLE-style quizzes in the specific first-year subjects covered by the reviews. PDF files of the summaries and quizzes are posted on E-Reserves (search the course index for "USMLE"). | |||
