Since 1988, Dr. Peggy Wallace, Director of the Professional Development Center, has been extensively involved in the design of cases and SP training for use by other Southern California programs for physicians, nurses, and physician assistants. For example, Dr. Wallace worked with UCLA's pediatric residency program developing cases and providing standardized adolescent patients to help train and assess the skills of third-year pediatric residents. She also developed cases and prepared SPs for the AIDS Education and Training Center of Southern California. As Principal Investigator of a Josiah Macy Jr. Foundation Consortium grant, Dr. Wallace brought together all five Southern California medical schools to design and implement a Clinical Practice Examination(CPX). That consortium has expanded to include all 8 California medical schools that gives the same CPX annually to more than 1,000 fourth-year medical students.
