An even higher-power image of the previous section reveals several large cell bodies of neurons of the myenteric plexus of Auerbach at the interface between the outer and inner layers of smooth muscle. Compare the large nuclei with dark-staining nucleoli of these neurons to the much smaller nuclei of smooth muscle cells cut in cross-section. |
