A high-power view of the inset in the previous image, shows profiles of the tubular gastric glands.  The basophilic pepsinogen-secreting chief cells predominate and are surrounded by capillaries containing erythrocytes.  The occasional eosinophilic cell nestled among the chief cells is an HCl-secreting parietal cell.
