Here, a high-power view of region D is shown. A portion of the zona reticularis is evident at top with the remainder of the field consisting of adrenal medullary cells. The majority of these cells secrete epinephrine and norepinephrine and are sometimes called chromaffin cells. Ganglion cells that innervate the medullary vasculature can occasionally be seen. |
