In this very low power survey shot, the outer margin of the kidney and underlying cortex span the image from left to upper right. Note that the cortex is darker staining than the medulla. Also note the profiles of arcuate arteries and veins at the interface between cortex and medulla. A portion of a renal papilla and minor calyx are evident at lower right. |
