UC San Diego Graduate Medical Education
The University of California, San Diego School of Medicine and Medical Center are both committed to graduate medical education (GME) as a central component of their mission to improve the health of the public. UCSD seeks to educate outstanding physicians and medical scientists.
The School of Medicine and UC San Diego Health provide a supportive and challenging educational environment within which residents of diverse backgrounds can prepare themselves for careers characterized by commitment to excellence in service to others through patient care, research, teaching, and lifelong learning. Faculty members offer residents state-of-the-art knowledge, demonstrate the latest developments in patient care, model compassionate and ethical care, and provide guidance and supervision to ensure patient health and safety.
UC San Diego Training Programs
UC San Diego Health Sciences offers 78 ACGME accredited Residency and Fellowship programs and 2 combined residency programs for a total of 80 programs with over 775 intern, resident and fellow trainees. UC San Diego also offers training to another 100+ physician trainees in approximately 40 fellowship programs for which accreditation is not currently available, and 40+ residents and fellows in Pharmacy and other non-physician clinical training programs.
