Welcome to the Professional Development Center
(PDC) at the University of California San Diego, School of Medicine,
home of the Standardized Patient Program.
The Goal of the Standardized Patient Program is to provide realistic
practice opportunities in a simulated environment where it is safe to
make mistakes and learn from them before working independently with real
patients.
The Standardized Patient Program is
- Comprised of individuals referred to as Standardized or Simulated
Patients (SPs) who are specially trained to accurately and authentically
portray actual patients.
- An educational resource providing opportunities for clinical skills
learning and assessment across the spectrum of undergraduate, graduate
and continuing medical education.
