Undergraduate Medical Education

UGME Mission

The mission of the UCSD Office of Undergraduate Medical Education (UGME) is to ensure the provision of quality medical education for students enrolled in the UCSD School of Medicine. This includes providing curricular-related services to students, as well as administrative and analytical support to faculty and committees charged with developing and implementing curriculum-related policies and procedures and with reviewing all course offerings within the school.

The UGME Office is also home to the various curricular resource programs within the School, including:

Staff in the UGME Office are responsible for issues related to:

Curriculum Requirements, including required pre-clinical and clinical core and elective coursework and the Independent Study Project.
Faculty & Student Support Services, including requests for academic accommodations for physical and mental conditions, exam proctoring, curriculum oversight committees, and student standing committees.
Schedules and Calendars, including course schedules, academic calendars, and exam schedules.
