"Neuroscience at the Boundaries" will provide an in-depth exploration of a group of brain disorders whose manifestations and neural substrates cross the boundaries that have traditionally separated the disciplines of Neurology and Psychiatry.

This quarter's course will cover Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Tourette Syndrome, Huntington's Disease, Stroke and Substance Dependence. Each disorder will be allotted three sessions. First, students will meet patients with each disorder, and observe a clinical interview. In a second meeting, cutting-edge research related to that disorder will be discussed in a seminar format. A third session will include a lecture from a leading expert in the field, who will also meet with enrolled students to discuss clinical and scientific issues in a less formal setting. The course will open with a series of focused lectures to provide a foundation of knowledge in critical areas of basic and clinical neuroscience.

This course will be repeated in Spring, 2007, using the same format to cover 6 different disorders: Autism, Schizophrenia, Seizure disorders, Parkinson's Disease, Alzheimer's Disease and HIV-1/AIDS.
