About Us |
The Audiology Doctorate (AuD) is a professional degree designed to meet professional standards for entry-level practice into the audiology workforce.
This is a joint program between San Diego State University (SDSU) and the University of California, San Diego (UCSD). The campuses are 15 miles apart. Program faculty and resources are shared between campuses. Year 1 students complete courses and clinical practica at SDSU. Year 2 students complete courses and clinical practica at UCSD. In Year 3, students take courses at SDSU and are assigned to off-campus clinical sites located in the San Diego area. Year 4 is a full-time externship with sites available throughout California and other states.
Our 4-year program is accredited by the Council on Academic Accreditation in Audiology and Speech Language Pathology (CAA) of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA). The program is designed so that Graduates for our program meet the requirements for California Licensure, certification (CCC-A) by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA), and Board Certification by the American Academy of Audiology (AAA).
Comments from Recent Graduates: The opportunity to work with the ENT doctors at UCSD provided valuable training and experience.
I would highly recommend our program to future students for multiple reasons. The strongest aspect of our program is that our exposure to clinic and working with patients begins very early on. Of course, the UCSD year strengthens our diagnostic skills and prepares us for any given private practice or hospital setting. I am very happy with my overall experience and will always be willing and proud to speak highly of our program. The faculty have been amazing with their expertise and their ability to effectively educate us.
