Latino Medical Student Association

The UCSD chapter of the Latino Medical Student Association (LMSA) is composed of dedicated medical students from all walks of life, focused on increasing the number of underrepresendted minorities that attend UCSD School of Medicine. Our outreach efforts extend from the undergraduate campus and beyond with our mentorship program focused on undergraduates to our "Doc 4 a Day" event each winter which is geared towards disadvantaged middle school and high school students in San Diego County.

We take on an active role in meeting the needs of the people of California by fomenting culturally-competent healthcare through education and leadership opportunities in the medical and political arenas. We strive to develop the leaders that will be responsible for the care and well-being of one of the most dynamic and diverse populations in the world

Mission Statement:  LMSA is part of a regional and national network comprised of diverse

•       Unify and build community among medical students
•       Promote the recruitment and retention of students underrepresented in medicine
•       Educate medical students on Latino health issues
