DOC-4-A-DAYDOC-4-A-DAY is a student-developed and student-led event. DOC-4-A-DAY is geared towards exposing disadvantaged middle school and high school students to the possibility of pursuing a career in science or medicine. The students work in small groups with a UCSD medical student to learn about physical exams, neurological exams, anatomy and various other health related topics. The medical students also hold a panel to discuss issues they encountered upon choosing a career in medicine. The event occurs in December and March on the UCSD campus. DOC-4-A-DAY is currently run by PRIME-HEq, but LMSA is the founder and former organizer. LMSA continues to extensively support and participate in DOC-4-A-DAY. |
SOM MentorsSOM Mentors is a program collaboratively organized by LMSA and SNMA. The program strives to provide quality one-on-one mentorship to minority and/or self-identified disadvantaged students from the undergraduate campus of UCSD, and to prepare students for a successful application and entry into a professional career in medicine. As a secondary objective, the Mentorship Program attempts to cultivate excellent student doctor mentors and invest them in diversifying the doctor population. |
